Macaron Day 2013

Can you believe there is a national holiday for macarons? Today is officially Macaron Day 2013 and that means a macaron cafe near you may be handing out these ultra fancy mini cakes for cheap or even free!
Macaron day is celebrated in the US, Europe, and even parts of Canada. It was started seven years ago in Paris by Pierre Herme and has been adopted by numerous bakers around the world, most notably François Payard here in New York.
If you're located in NYC, relish in the fact that most of the macaron cafe's around the city are handing out macarons for free! Just pop in and mention the holiday to receive a macaron on the house! If you've taken the day off, why not hit up a few macaron cafe's!
